General Manager's Corner Updates
🍂 Fall Operations Update
As we ease into the fall season, RD784 field operations continue with a variety of maintenance tasks as we prepare for the upcoming flood season. From September through October, keep an eye out for sheep and goats grazing along the levees as part of our vegetation management program.
✅ Current Maintenance Activities Include:
- Rodent control measures
- Trimming low-hanging tree branches
- Minor structure repairs
- Controlled brush pile burning (as conditions allow)
These efforts help us prepare for the Department of Water Resources (DWR) Fall Levee Inspection and ensure our infrastructure is winter-ready.
🔧 Stormwater Pump Station Servicing
Our teams are currently servicing all stormwater pump stations to ensure reliability during the wet season. This includes:
- Oil changes in pumps
- Servicing backup diesel generators
- Inspecting all electrical components and connectors

Canals and Ditches – Keep Our Waterways Clear
Reclamation District 784 (RD784) maintains over 60 miles of canals, ditches, and drainage basins that move stormwater to pumping stations. From there, water is discharged into nearby rivers and out of the District.
Illegal dumping of garbage or debris into these waterways can cause blockages and lead to localized flooding.
If you see anyone dumping into ditches or canals, report it immediately to the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office at 530-749-7777.
Public Levee Access – Know Before You Go
Please note:
- Not all levees are open to the public. Many are located on private property.
- RD784 staff may access these levees only through State of California easement rights for maintenance purposes.
- RD784 cannot grant public access to private property.
A list of levees open to public pedestrian access is included in the attachment below.
Unauthorized motor vehicles are strictly prohibited on all levees.
