General Manager's Corner Updates
Operations Update
As we transition into spring and summer, RD784 field operations continue across the District, with crews performing a wide range of maintenance activities. This time of year, the mix of clear and rainy days influences which activities can be completed on any given day.
Current Maintenance Activities Include:
- Animal burrow control along the levees
- Sheep and goat grazing
- Trimming of low-hanging tree branches
- Minor structure repairs, including levee gates
- Controlled brush pile burning (as conditions allow)
- Pre- and post-storm maintenance, including vegetation abatement, removal of obstructions from drainage laterals, and regular inspections of all stormwater pump stations
These efforts ensure the District remains well-prepared, even as we approach the end of the 2025–2026 flood season.

Canals and Ditches – Keep Our Waterways Clear
Reclamation District 784 (RD784) maintains over 60 miles of canals, ditches, and drainage basins that move stormwater to pumping stations. From there, water is discharged into nearby rivers and out of the District.
Illegal dumping of garbage or debris into these waterways can cause blockages and lead to localized flooding.
If you see anyone dumping into ditches or canals, report it immediately to the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office at 530-749-7777.
Public Levee Access – Know Before You Go
Not all levees are publicly owned. Some levees are located on private property, and RD784 personnel may only access these areas because the State of California holds right-of-way easements for levee maintenance and operations.
RD784 cannot authorize anyone to access or trespass on private property owned by others. The list below identifies which levees are open to the public for pedestrian access only.
Unauthorized motor vehicles are prohibited on all levees, except where specifically designated for crossing.
